Dr. Abbas completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, where he also served as Chief Fellow. He further specialized with a Critical Care Fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, one of the top cancer care centers in the country. Throughout his career, Dr. Abbas has been dedicated to advancing the field of pulmonary and critical care through research, education, and clinical excellence. He has authored several publications in the Brooklyn Hospital Center Journal of Health Sciences and has presented his research at national conferences such as the annual Chest Conference and the World Congress for Bronchology.
Dr. Abbas is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Critical Care Medicine. His professional interests include the treatment of obstructive lung diseases such as asthma and COPD, postoperative pulmonary complications, and obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Abbas is also passionate about patient education and hospital-based smoking cessation programs. In addition to his clinical roles, Dr. Abbas holds several leadership positions. His dedication to patient care and medical education has earned him prestigious awards, including the Golden Apple Teaching Award and the Angelica B. Miotti Award.
